Research title
ONE MILLION DEATHS BEFORE BEING BURIED: Schopenhauerian pessimism and David Benatar’s antinatalism
Research abstract
The research aims to identify the influence of schopenhaurian thought in the philosophical perspective called antinatalism, leaded by David Benatar, since the publication in 2006 of Better Never to Have Been: The harm of coming into existence. Through the explaining of concepts carved by Benatar will be shown by what means the philosophical tools crafted by Schopenhauer, especial the §56, in book fourth of The world as will and representation are present in the antinatalist perspective, evaluating the adequacy of calling Benatar’s antinatalism a heritage of the pessimist tradition assigned to Schopenhauer.
