The survival of the tragic model in bourgeois drame
Research abstract

This work fits within the field of classical tragedy discussion, starting from its reception in 17th-century France, with the status of dramatic poetry, alongside the so-called aesthetic rupture with the advent of bourgeois drama in the 18th century. The aim is to examine the structure of tragedy, whose foundational elements are expressed as a dramatic phenomenon revealed by the poetic and/or prosaic language of its texts. Thus, we have delved into the realm of philology of the seventeenth and eighteenth-century tragic, while also invoking, within the scope of tragedy, the philosophical-aesthetic distinctions that shaped the theatrical consciousness that renewed the French stage in the 18th century.
