Research title
The usefulness of signs and other things in De Magistro and De Doctrina Christiana, by Augustine
Research abstract

This research will aim to investigate the thematic similarities between the first and second books of the work De Doctrina Christiana, which deals with the usefulness of signs and things, and the book De Magistro, which deals with the relationship between signs and things. The research will seek to highlight the embryonic ideas of the usefulness of signs in the work De Magistro in relation to his later work De Doctrina Christiana. From there, creating a presentation of the “rules of the game” in the relationship between signs and things in Augustine, the research will also propose the systematization of an “Augustinian semiology” based on the two works cited.
