On the man and the demon: Aquinas and the theory of the will
Research abstract

The main question of this work is are there a free of the will in Aquinas? To answer this, we will make two differents analyzes: one about the man, and the
second about the angels who falls the heaven. This question arises in the History of Philosophy in the Middle Ages and returns after Odon Lottin publications. Since this publication, many scholars have work on this subject. Once the demon is an angel, this discussion may be analyze by another point of view. If the man can go in the wrong way and sin by an error of the intellect, the angel (with their almost perfect intellect) can not. In this way, the angel’s sin can be only by will. Our hypothesis is we can talk about a free of the will in Aquinas insofar we take the angelical mistake as result of a will, where the ignorance on divine order is wanted by the will.
