Aldemir Martins: Plastic Artist
Research abstract
The research seeks, through the analysis of the work of the visual artist Aldemir Martins (Ingazeiras, CE 1922 – São Paulo, SP 2006), to focus on the formation of the modern Brazil, with the various aesthetic issues and problematizations of the history of art that the creation of a modern Brazil implies. By comparing his work with previous Brazilian production and later contemporary art, the figure of Aldemir can greatly help to identify the particularities of Brazilian visual production over the decades and help us to understand what methods are used by the arts system to authorize or not a body of work insofar as it fits its current values.
