Research title
The hermeneutic interpretation of poetry in Gadamer
Research abstract

The research consists in an annotated translation of selected essays by Hans-Georg Gadamer that appear in the works Aesthetics and Poetics I and II, in particular those that refer to the relationship between hermeneutics and German poetry. Alongside the translation work, a study will be prepared whose core will consist of presenting Gadamer's hermeneutic project focused on the reading of poetry. More than practices of interpretation around the German, classical and modern literary tradition, these essayistic expositions demonstrate a concern with reflecting on the comprehensive experience with poetic art. Through the dialogue between theoretical texts, marked by a phenomenological and ontological approach to poetry, and the author's interpretative texts, which deal with the works of poets such as Goethe, Hölderlin and Rilke, the constitutive aspects of the art of understanding poetry will be investigated.
