Research title
Immanent critique as a critique of ideology: Walter Benjamin and Brazilian popular song
Research abstract

This research takes the immanent analysis, as formulated by Walter Benjamin throughout all the years of his production, to think a group of popular and urban songs created by Chico Buarque since the latest 20th century. As is well known, this was a period of intense change in the relations between nations, with the so-called globalization, and nationally, as we were living the period that consolidated a democratic mode of organization after more than 20 years under a dictatorship. Concomitantly, there is a large growth in poverty zones in the country's large cities, the periferia. therefore, as Benjamin showed, works of art have a reflexive character that can teach us a lot about the dynamics of the world. The objective, in short, is to think about this moment from the point of view of the popular song.
