Research title
Materialism and morals: the science of customs in Baron Holbach.
Research abstract

It is about analyzing the foundations of the notion of “customs” in Baron d'Holbach´s atheistic materialism present in his main texts. We will investigate, in particular, the problematization made by Holbach about mores in the social reality of the eighteenth century in France, in the face of the principles of his religious criticism. Thus, it is intended to verify how the Baron d'Holbach constructs what he calls “science of customs” by resuming and redefining human actions in society, in addition to putting them to the test and proposing changes in individual and social behavior.
