AN INVESTIGATION ON THE RESEARCH PROGRAM IN COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS: FROM STYLES OF SCIENTIFIC REASONING TO RESEARCH STRATEGIES
Research abstract

This is a survey of the Cognitive Linguistics Research Program. We understand by research program the articulation of the theoretical background and the forms of investigation of this model of linguistic sciences. The theoretical background and forms of investigation will be approached by evaluation schemes of scientific practice that include the notion of style in science and the notion of scientific research strategy. Faced with this research object and based on this conceptual scheme, the problem we will address can be formulated as follows: what styles of reasoning predominate in cognitive linguistics and how can certain research strategies correspond to them? Our hypothesis is that a combination of hypothetical modeling and evolutionary style predominates in cognitive linguistics, to which predominantly contextualized restriction and selection strategies are combined.
