Research title
METHODS AND APPROACHES IN HISTORY OF PHILOSOPHY: THE LEGACY OF MARTIAL GUÉROULT.
Research abstract

This master's project focuses on the analysis of the writings of Martial Guéroult (1891-1976), exploring the foundations of his methodology in philosophical historiography. Guéroult identifies a pivotal moment in the consolidation of philosophy, namely the creation of new discursive structures aimed at understanding the real. Thus, in order to develop a history of philosophical philosophy, Guéroult intends to establish a series of fundamental elements for those who reconstruct philosophical systems and their respective questions and answers. The research, therefore, is based on two pillars: 1) In-depth study of Guéroult's methods; 2) Case study: analysis of Descartes. The first pillar examines Guéroult's methodology, emphasizing the importance of philosophical problems and discursive logic within philosophical systems. The second pillar investigates the application of the structural method to Descartes' Meditations. By combining these pillars, the research aims to contribute to the understanding and debate surrounding the method in the history of philosophy, elucidating how, according to Guéroult himself, historians should construct the dialogue between the past and the present.
