This project aims to study on the relationship between the being as first conceived by the intellect (ens primum cognitum) and the discovery of the subject of metaphysics according to Thomas Aquinas; considering the debate between the commentators: Gilson, Maritain, Fabro and Aertsen. For this, we propose a critical and comparative reading of these authors with the work of Thomas. The main point to be considered, in our work, is the meaning of this first apprehension of being and the passage to the subject of metaphysics, in view of the debate between the mentioned commentators about the knowledge of sensible to transsensible things.
