A PORTRAIT OF POWER IN FOUCAULT, BY GILLES DELEUZE
Research abstract

This project looks to investigate the processes, motivations and singularities of the efforts invested by Gilles Deleuze, from 1984 onwards, in his studies of Foucauldian philosophy. Giving special emphasis to the issue of power, the project consolidates its vision of analysis based especially in relation to a traditional division of studies on Foucault, which admits an archeology of knowledge (and the study of historical strata), a genealogy of power (and the study of strength strategies) and self-care (and the study of subjectivity). Through these mechanisms of analysis - also consistent with Deleuze's study - it is expected to follow the hypothesis that Foucault has always been an author concerned with the present and, above all, with the current processes of thinking. From there, it is expected to have an efficient differentiation between Deleuze's philosophical works and the characterization generally attributed to philosophical commentators. For this, the plan project has a primary bibliography structured in sketches, works and courses given by Deleuze in Saint-Denis, and a secondary bibliography, engaged in understanding the relationship between the two authors.
