In general, this research aims to understand the relationship between essence and existence in Baruch Spinoza's Ethics. Firstly, we will carry out a careful study of the relationship between essence and characteristic existence of the infinite substance, of the thing called the cause of itself (causa sui). But the novelty of this work concerns that relationship between essence and existence that occurs in finite modes, particularly in the finite human mode, where the first does not cause the second, but both have God as their cause.
