Research title
On the concept of expression in Merleau-Ponty's ontology
Research abstract

This research is an interpretative work on the concept of expression developed by the French philosopher Maurice Merleau-Ponty, in order to find the genesis of this concept, its importance within the construction of his ontology, as well as the resulting philosophical solutions and problems, based on his reflections on artistic expression, found mainly in his published texts and courses from the 1950s. Our hypothesis is that the French philosopher presents the notion of expression as the only one capable of overcoming the problems arising from ontological dualism. To this end, we intend not only to carry out critical readings of the philosopher's fundamental texts, but also to analyze the works of his main commentators and take a position in the debate with them.
