The aim of this research is to investigate the relationship between Hegel's aesthetics and art criticism. To do this, it is necessary to address how Hegelian thought understands the emergence of the critical procedure of analyzing works of art, which gains strength and relevance in the reflective spiritual scenario of modernity, while discussing how Hegel himself performs an interpretation of works of art, seeking to point out his merits and even possible limitations in carrying out this procedure. In order to achieve this goal, it is necessary to constantly articulate Hegel's understanding of the relationship between art and philosophy, which has history as its essential element, because it is in his historical understanding of art and philosophy that the question of reflection comes into play, an element that Hegel points out as a constituent of the modern spirit, and which changes the human relationship with art, especially in comparison with the art of antiquity.
