Research title
A magical body in the early modern era - The Benandanti as a praeternatural scientific object.
Research abstract

This research deals with the study of the evolution of scientific concepts through a frame of reference of preternatural philosophy. As a starting point, we propose a historical discovery, the benandanti, whose existence is related to various themes found in the typical philosophy of the Renaissance period and the beginning of the modern era. Our research unfolds from the dialogue between the reports collected by Carlo Ginzburg in his historical research and the definition of a preternatural science proposed by Lorraine Daston. From there, we attempt to answer questions about the validity of preternatural phenomena as scientific objects.
