This investigation analyzes the term οὐσία in the works Metaphysics and Categories of Aristotle, analyzing the meanings of this term from specific clippings of the works and will analyze if there is a theory of substance (ousiology) in Aristotle's Metaphysics, therefore, this work will deal with to investigate the ways in which “substance” shows itself according to the Met passages. Δ 8 1017b23-26, Met. Z 3 1028b33-1029a3, and Met. Z 13 1038b1-8, analyzing and comparing them in detail, and to better clarify the meanings of substance that are presented by Aristotle, I will also use passages from the work the Categories, especially chapter 5 dedicated to οὐσία, more specifically the passage Cat. 5 2b15-21; 2b37-3a6 as a way of thinking about the relationship between substance and ύποχείμενον, and in the comparison between passages we will see how substance presents itself in logical and metaphysical discussions, analyzing the problem of the relationship between οὐσία and ύποχείμενον.
