Paulo Freire and the Western Marxism: Regarding the notions of Silence and "Conscientização"
Research abstract

USP's philosophy department had its history marked by the reevaluation of the method in marxists philosophies of the XX century, by Giannotti and Fausto, inspired by the young Lukács. We aim to comprehend the brazilian reception of Lukács's "History and Class Consciousness" by Paulo Freire's theoretical work. For this we will evaluate the possible approximations between Lukács's theories of reification and revolutionary consciousness and Freire's notion of silence and "conscietização". We have as object the transition from "Educação como prática de liberdade" to "Pedagogia do Oprimido" to comprehend the role of marxist philosophy (focused on Lukács) on the motivations this theoretical redirection. By this we pretend discuss some aspects of brazilian politics and culture on 1960's.
