“The ancient cross”: Husserl and the internal time-consciousness
Research abstract

This study investigates the ways with which Husserl formulates and reformulates the concept of an "absolute consciousness", or an "internal time consciousness", ("the most important matter in all phenomenology") throughout his philosophical journey. Special attention is given to the following writings: 1) The Phenomenology of Internal Time-Consciousness, 2) The Bernau Manuscripts, and 3) The C-manuscripts. By identifying the problems addressed in his arguments and investigating whether these arguments successfully overcome the aporias found in other psychological doctrines, this paper also strives to demonstrate how Husserl describes the ultimate source of transcendental subjectivity in each of the stages he uses to build the foundation of a truly "rigorous science".
