Research title
The Wisdom of the Flesh: A Philosophy of Incarnation in Maurice Merleau-Ponty
Research abstract

The research aims to study the concept of incarnation developed by Maurice Merleau-Ponty. The theme of incarnation is based, above all, on the analysis of the concepts of body (corps) and flesh (chair). Our general hypothesis is that in Merleau-Ponty’s work there is an original thought about the notion of incarnation capable of responding to the problem of dualism. Thus, in order to find the genesis of this concept - considering the contributions of Paul Claudel and Gabriel Marcel - and its importance within the Merleau-Pontyan philosophical project, as well as the solutions and problems arising, we will situate our study, mainly, in the texts and courses by the philosopher produced in the 1950s.
