Language in Merleau-Ponty is fundamental to understanding his work. Particularly, there is an interest in understanding its transcendence, that is, the philosopher's elaborations on a transcendence distinct from that that he calls the "intellectualist conception of language." Broadly speaking, theoretical mastery of the topic is essential to confirm its relationship with the concept of "perception." As a cultural artifact, language offers in itself a glimpse into the relationship between perception and culture: origin and phenomenon. Therefore, the study and investigation of the topic aims to clarify the transcendence of language, a clarification that, given the author's philosophical project, at whose center lies perception, is achieved by investigating the relationship between language and the philosopher's main concept: perception. The findings of research into this relationship, in this sense, can lend consistency to the transcendence of language or else cast doubt on the success of this transition.
