TRAN-DUC-THAO AND THE DOCTRINE OF THE “PRÉSENT VIVANT”: DIALECTICAL LOGIC AND TEMPORALIZATION
Research abstract

The project aims to introduce the debate on the work of the vietnamese philosopher Tran-Duc-Thao into the brazilian academic scene through the analysis of the notion of the “Présent Vivant,” a fundamental concept in his effort to achieve a dialectical overcoming of husserlian phenomenology by means of marxist dialectical materialism. Situated within the tradition of postwar French phenomenology, Tran-Duc-Thao develops, notably in his work “Phénoménologie et matérialisme dialectique” (1951), an immanent critique of Husserl’s method, exposing its aporias and progressively orienting himself toward a materialist ontology of consciousness.
