OPPRESSED, OPPRESSOR AND THE PARADOX OF THE ENEMY-ACCOMPLICE IN MACHIAVELLI
Research abstract

This work aims to deconstruct the issues surrounding the relationship between the oppressed and the oppressor, which appears to be a relevant issue for the study of the genesis and extinction of tyrannies, primarily those initially legitimized by the people. Considering the wealth of work available in the intellectual archive of this great and controversial author, it is understood that significant progress can be made in examining the means by which domination is established, which seems to approximate the mythological subjugation of a people. To achieve this goal, it is reasonable to also examine the tyrant's ability and means to seduce and co-opt his subjects, as well as the variables that lead to the people's deposition or coexistence with tyranny. It is assumed that the conclusions reached here will contribute not only to a better understanding of popular influence on the genesis and extinction of tyrannies based on Machiavelli's ideas, but also to broaden the understanding of Machiavelli's readers about political events of past and present times, making political actors more sensible.
