METAPHYSICS AND PERSPECTIVISM IN HERACLITUS OF EPHESUS
Research abstract

The project aims: [1] to investigate the metaphysical nature of Heraclitus’ thought — which based on the ‘tensional connection’ of contrasts integrated into a unity revealing the logos (and, therefore, the structure of each and everything as well as of the cosmos itself), seems to bring about his search for ‘being qua being’ — as well as [2] to investigate a possible perspectivist dimension which unfolds from the logos as an objective unity of tensionally connected contrasts. In such worldview, contrasts (and all differentiation in the world) would be facets of an underlying unity that: (i) on one hand, can be captured from distinct perspectives (perspectivism), while (ii) on the other, depend on the underlying unity that objectively forms each and everything and the cosmos common to all (realism).
