Research title
The pardo in Brazil: the dilemma of mixed-race identity in the “mixed country”
Research abstract

The research intends to examine the pardo (Brown) issue in Brazil, from the foundations of racialization, which created the differentiation between human beings based on races, which consequently created the concept of mexid race, its social, historical, political, economic and existential consequences for the configuration of the modern world under the aegis of colonialism and capitalism. The focus of the research will be to understand the Brazilian mixed race, for this, we will investigate the role of miscegenation in the social formation of Brazil, to understand the subjective formation of the Brazilian mixed race population and, through the theoretical arsenal of philosophers who deal with recognition and identity, examine how this project of subjectivation through the erasure and denial of black ancestry and the forced whitening of the pardo (Brown) population caused an existential rupture in these individuals.
