Nature and Ontology in Merleau-Ponty
Deepening and developing a line of study begun earlier, this project intends to continue a working hypothesis that aims to make explicit the presence of a constant ontological perspective throughout Merleau-Ponty’s philosophy. Focusing now on his notion of Nature and how it takes up some central concepts of his work, we will try to show not only the permanence of this ontological dimension as an axis of a project that remains across all the reflection of the author, but also that one of its main nuclei lies in the affirmation of a primary unity between Being and Nothingness, non-identifying reversibility that puts classical dualisms in abeyance. In this way, we intend to highlight the original position that Merleau-Ponty assumes in the philosophical debate of his time, upholding a reading different from the one most widespread among scholars.
