ANALYSIS OF THE CRITIQUE OF GILLES DELEUZE TO THE NOTION OF TRANSCENDENTAL IN KANT: A DIALOGUE IN LIGHT OF THE READING OF “CRITIQUE OF PURE REASON”
Research abstract

The concept of transcendental, in Critique of pure reason, is the way to know possible objects a priori. However, this concept was criticized by some philosophers (as) after Kant, including Gilles Deleuze. Deleuze questioned the legitimacy of this concept, pointing to a possible shrinkage and decalque of the transcendental, suggesting that Kant does not offer a foundation that is guaranteed by itself. Based on this, this project aims to investigate the criticism of Deleuze to Kant, performing a critical analysis of the main arguments of Deleuze. In addition, we propose to examine the chapter “From the deduction of pure concepts of understanding” of the Critique of pure reason (second edition), to evaluate whether the diagnosis of the French philosopher remains valid, exploring its implications and consequences. We will highlight the main arguments of Deleuze against Kant in works such as Difference and Repetition and Logic the Senses. On the other hand, we will analyze § 13 to § 27 of the Critique of pure reason to ascertain whether the establishment of the foundation of a priori knowledge, as well as of experience in general, becomes a vicious circle, as Deleuze pointed out.
