Prolific contemporary author Jacques Rancière stands out for the heterogeneity of his works. The diversification of research areas and the uniqueness of his analyses align with the versatility of studies dedicated to his thought. Broadly speaking, his philosophy is divided into categories such as politics, aesthetics, poetics, and pedagogy. Thus, his notions proliferate across various fields of knowledge. However, the segmentation into numerous branches can often produce interpretative distances and disjointed movements regarding the element of continuity in his work—namely, the relationship the contemporary establishes with philosophical tradition and with the most diverse genres of thought and language. The way Rancière articulates varied forms of text—discourses, documents, Greek tragedies, paintings, scientific articles, among others—seems to point to an indelible mark of philosophizing. In line with this, his philosophical practice suggests a specific type of reading that transcends the boundaries of knowledge and proposes a radical equivalence between them, expressed in the production of a history of philosophy whose principle is equality.
